Volunteer Activities

Beach Road Cleanup

Beach Road

All of you in favor of beautifying our environment please come and volunteer for this important community service. Yes all of you high students, this does count toward your community service requirements, and, it's so close to home!

The WPHA, thirteen years ago, signed up with Virginia’s Adopt-a-Highway program and agreed to be responsible for the section of Beach Road fronting Woodland Pond. The clean up, conducted twice a year, involves picking up trash along the divided section of Woodland Pond Parkway and one mile on each side of the entrance of Beach Road.

Volunteers providing this litter cleanup service across the state play an important role in enhancing the environment and keeping Virginia Beautiful. Volunteers normally meet in the WP Swim and Racquet Club parking lot at a pre-determined time for coffee and snacks. Clean up is normally completed in one or two hours, depending on the number of volunteers available.

Trash bags and orange safety vests are provided. Wear old clothes and gloves. And, bring a neighbor or two or make it a family affair!

2009 Beach Road Spring Clean-Up Fantastic Success!

'The Orange Brigade' enjoyed perfect weather and, quite possibly, a record turnout on Saturday the 18th. Collecting 27 bags of trash and debris, our neighbors took a bit over an hour to clean up for us along the Parkway and Beach Rd. Let them know how much we appreciate them!

The Orange Brigade Spring 2009:

Hope you'll consider joining The Orange Brigade for the Fall Clean-Up in October!
